Primer dia: Madrid - Copenhague

I visited Denmark on two occasions: in 1996, touring the country from north to south, and again in April 2007, in a trip of only 3 days and only stay in Copenhagen.

Let me summarize the stages of the first trip to this Nordic country:

First day: Madrid - Copenhagen

The flight takes just over two hours. Copenhagen airport is close to  the sea and landing is a nightmare for the amount of laps that the plane has to take before landing. The airport is small and easy to drive.  From the airport take a bus to downtown Copenhagen (journey ends near the central railway station, near the Tivoli and other areas of interest).

We visited the first day the center of Copenhagen. From the Town Hall Square you can walk along the longest pedestrian street in Europe. Of course, we make the  visit to the harbor where the Andersen little mermaid is located , which is much smaller than one imagines; Avoid to do something as to paint her tits o. ... an affront to all Danes. I felts a bit disappointed with the environment in which the sculpture is. Before coming to the Little Mermaid, one must pass through a lovely park, which is the Copenhagen Botanical (free) and the royal gardens. We use to visit the royal palace, very simple but charming. There is a big  source  in their surroundings and it is always crowded!.

At night, it is recomended to visit  the Tivoli park, a sort of old amusement park, where  the least interest are precisely the attractions. For the night has special lighting that makes it a magical place.

The second and third day I tried to learn more about Copenhagen and surroundings. It is worth visiting the palace of the Opera or the central station.

The third day we took a train and a ferry heading for the peninsula of Jutland. The voyage of the ship is quiet and fast. We reached the city and visited Frederiskhavn. We keep going to Aarus, university capital of Denmark. A charming and quiet, with many pubs and places of student environment. There are no large monuments, but to walk its streets is a delight.

The fourth day is dedicated entirely to Aarus and the days following, based on this city, visited Billund, where Legoland is located, built entirely with tabs of  this famous toy . Through the wonderful Danish freeways, I visit Skagen , wonderful town in which the wind run like the devil. It is worth visiting the coast (there are buses-tractors that make a visit to the beach to see the shelters built during the Second World War) and stroll through its streets. I was impressed by his church, which had no pictures or saints or of Christ, but they had boats hanging everywhere!

I was surprised for the Danish  pigs cult  (rare is the population that does not have a monument to pork!) And Cristian Andersen, the writer who became famous for his stories and fables for children. In his hometown there is a route that takes you to the places that inspired them, and where he wrote his stories, even indicated the stone on which he sat to write ....
